Tom Lawson joined the F3Marina Team as the General Manager of the Titusville Marina in September 2015 with 15 years of marina management experience both in the private and public sector and is a Certified Marina Manager through the Association of Marine Industries.
Prior to joining F3Marina Tom developed an extensive background in management, budgeting and procurement, strategic planning and facilities maintenance throughout his career in the United States Air Force, West End Land & Golf Course Development, Lakeside Yacht Club and Whiskey Island Marina.
Tom began his career in the marina business as a dockhand at Lakeside Yacht Club on Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio in 2003. He worked his way up through the ranks to the position of Harbormaster. He left the yacht club to take on the challenge of a county-owned property with over 60 acres.
At Whiskey Island Marina Tom Led the recovery and rebuilding operation necessary after the marina was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. Working directly with the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) he obtained multiple quotes to meet government procurement requirements, negotiated contracts and insurance claims, served as general contractor to oversee permitting, delivery and installation of new docks and utilities, managed the expectations of boaters during construction, and successfully completed the project in time for the 2013 season opening, under budget and in compliance with Federal Emergency Management Administration regulations.
Since taking over the Titusville Marina Tom has increased the occupancy rate from a low 49% to 100% during its busy season and maintaining at least a 90% throughout the low season. He has increased the revenue from a six-figure loss to a six-figure profit in just two years and has been able to pay down the debt of the marina.
